AHH Shall Return
So, the Last Art Happy Hour is in the can. And the Bedlam Theatre as we knew it has closed its doors.
And what’s more, the Dirty Curls — Friends of AHH and writers/performers of the Art Happy Hour Theme Song — have, without much warning or fanfare, called it quits.
If you’re like me, I’m sure you can’t help but be wondering: Is this the end of everything? Is there nothing true and pure and good left to take advantage of in our fair-but-struggling Doppletowns?
And, even more importantly: Is this the end of Art Happy Hour?
Well, I don’t know the answer to much, but I do know this: AHH shall return. You haven’t seen the last of Art Happy Hour. AHH’ll be back. (And many other cliches!)
Please stand by for further announcement of exciting Art Happy news.
In the meantime, here are some pics from August 25’s Last Art Happy Hour.
Ahh, the memories….

Ten Days Till the End

As mentioned in the previous AHH post, the last Art Happy Hour (@ the Bedlam) is looming: Just ten days away and counting.
The last time to be artful. The last time to be happy. The last time to be, uh, timely?
The Bedlam Theatre (as we currently know it) will soon be closing its doors, and we’ll never see its exact like again.
So, come while you can.

For those of you haven’t heard, the Bedlam Theatre — home to Art Happy Hour since April, 2009 — will, as of September 7, be no more. Well, at least the current version of the Bedlam will be no more: The gang lost its least on its current space and is currently in search of somewhere new to hang its collective hat.
The Bedlam are good and talented theater folk, who mean a lot to this community — and do a lot for the community — even while presenting cutting-edgy, funny and entertaining theatrical art and providing lots and lots of bike racks at a gracious and welcoming space.
Now is a good time — a perfect time in fact — to show your support of the Bedlam folk by coming to the Last Art Happy Hour (at the Bedlam, on August 25), unclenching your fists, and spending a little of your hard-earned on beer and wine and kielbasa.
In other words, come to The Last Art Happy Hour at the Bedlam, and show your support to this uprooted local treasure.
Now, I know what you’re wondering: Where will I go to get my my art happy on once the Bedlam strikes the set? Will there be life for Art Happy Hour after the Bedlam leaves the West Bank? And the answer to that, is: I’m pretty sure I have the answer to that question.
But you will have to come to The Last Art Happy Hour (@ The Bedlam Theatre, on August 25) to find out what that answer is.
Come to the Last Art Happy Hour!

Greetings, Friends of Happy:
Just a quick note to let you all know, in case you were wondering, your favorite happy hour event — the ART HAPPY HOUR — will be on hiatus for the month of July, as your able Art Happy admin catches up on much needed rest and makes a push to get himself off the dole and back into the workforce.
We will see you again sometime soon — until then, keep Happy.
Cheers!

Ah, loneliness.
Ah, Minnesota.
Is there any lonelier month, and any lonelier place, than Minnesota in March?
Well, be lonely no longer. Thanks to:
ART HAPPY HOUR, the antidote to March loneliness.
Come, gather with your art-loving friends. Mingle and make crucial art-professional contacts.
Drink well, and cheaply.
And, best of all, be less lonely.

A very happy hour at a theatre not far away…
It is a
period of
great fear and
thirst across the
land. Harsh snow-
storms, striking from the
Albertan tundra, have sapped
the strength of a ragtag band of
Twin Cities artists. During the cold
snap, one brave rebel organizes a regular
slate of monthly gatherings, called ART HAPPY
HOURS, to provide hope to the discouraged artists.
Driven by despair from their dark caves and sad hovels,
the artists race to attend ART HAPPY HOUR, and thereby
save art and restore hope to the galaxy ….
