A Great Time at Grumpy’s
The second iteration of the new Minnesota art-world tradition—Art Happy Hour!—was a load of fun, for the few stalwarts who trudged out to the event. Thanks to you diehards who came for the good times and all the plentiful high spirits.
For the rest of you, stay tuned in coming weeks for information about Art Happy Hour! 3, as well as a few photos from AHH!2.
In the meantime, until the road calls us together again, a song (about the infinite and multifarious attractions of the itinerant life).
…The street calls to me.
The street that gives no exit.
The street calls to me,
The street where women give their lives.
The street where women raise themselves up,
like they do in the city of Martinica…

Welp, the polls have closed, and we have a winner in the AHH!2 poll.

Fais chier! See you soon at the Art Happy Hour!
No commentsAHH!2 candidate a lock?
With just under 10 days remaining in the Art Happy Hour! 2 poll, it appears that one choice, Grumpy’s, has a rather insurmountable lead–with 67% of the cast vote (compared to the only 25% of its closest rival).
But, do you know what? They counted out John McCain in 2007, and they wrote off Richard Nixon in 1960. They thought Eli Manning was only half the player of his brother Peyton, and he’d never win it all. They even, after 1992, thought the Bush family was doomed for the political dustheap.
And look where this sort of thinking got them!
So I guess the point is, don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. When it seems like all the chips are against you, and your favorite venue will never be chosen for an Art Happy Hour! — d o n ‘ t   g i v e   u p ! ! ! !
There is still plenty of time to rally your hombres, go to every available library internet connection, pad the polls, game the system, and win the day!
Vote for the venue. Vote for the fun. Vote Art Happy Hour! (Polls close at midnight on March 17.)

3 commentsAHH! Looks to You!
The Art Happy Hour! humbly solicits you to send in ideas, suggestions, and all manner of artsy thought to include on this blog, and at the next AHH! event. In particular, we’re looking for the following input:
1. What should be the venue for the next Art Happy Hour! (AHH!2)?
*Note: Suggestions on this issue were made at the Inaugural Art Happy Hour!, and those venues will be researched for suitable happy hour policies. Still, we’d welcome any other suggestions. Please send them to the AHH! Admin at admin(at)arthappyhour.com (or send via the comment function on the blog post) by February 22. We’ll post the final five potential venues in a AHH! poll that will run into early March.
2. What makes you (artistically) happy?
The Art Happy Hour! team would love to share stories about happy artists and why their artistic practice makes them happy.
Why are you happy to be an artist?
Send us a note to admin(at)arthappyhour.com (or via the comment function on the blog post).
